My name is Amanda Whitbeck, and I write a lot. It all started with my voracious reading that’s extended from childhood through now. But at one point, several years ago, I decided to give back to the world and start writing.

Writing Across the Web

First, I transformed my passion for music (I got a master’s degree in music business) into a music news website, Hidden Jams. It launched in 2014. For six years now, I’ve written music news, blogs, editorials, in-depth analyses, album reviews, and more.

More recently I began Amanda’s Book Corner (ABC for short), dedicated to my ongoing book obsession. I write book reviews and nerdy blog posts dedicated to my original passion. I read and write reviews of both fiction and nonfiction across a range of genres and topics.

In addition to my own online pursuits, I also regularly write for Petite2Queen, where I’m also the VP of Operations. I write regular blog posts and appear on the weekly podcast. While my speaking has improved over the years, I admit I’m still most comfortable writing my thoughts.

You’ll also find my early writing on sites like Zumic (music news), Dorn (corporate wellness), The Wild Papaya (Florida-based gardening), and more.

My Next Project: Writing Books!

In 2020, I have bigger goals for my writing: I’m going to write books. I have endless ideas for both fiction and nonfiction, and this year I’m finally going to focus on getting them out of my head and onto paper. And/or ebooks.

I’ll start a series based on my writing at Hidden Jams. Stay tuned for some in-depth looks at music from some of your (or at least my) favorite artists. I’m pretty excited about this, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Next, I’ll get started on my first fiction novel. I can’t tell you too much about it yet. Just know that it’s inspired by something personal to me, and it’ll be fun but thought-provoking. I’m hoping it’ll be ready for you in 2021.

Here’s some other, less obvious stuff about me. You know, if you care enough to know.

• I’m a Gemini and I was born in the year of the horse. Yes, I find astrology fun and strangely intriguing. No, I don’t care if you think it’s stupid pseudoscience. Have some fun in your life!
• I love cats and have what I call my “furry daughter.” Her name is Scarlett and she’s adorable and sweet.
• Anyone who’s met me probably already knows I’m shy and an introvert. They’re not the same thing, but I am both.
• I’m native to the Seattle area, but I have traveled a lot. I lived in Spain for a year, Peru for another year, and New York City for a summer. Vacations have also taken me around Italy, into France, and to Ireland, but there are so many places I still want to see. My dream is to travel the whole world!
• Speaking of Spain and Peru, I speak Spanish – intermediately, but not quite fluently. My husband is Peruvian, so he helps with my painfully slow learning.
• And speaking of learning, I’m teaching myself piano. Also very slowly.
